Born on 11 May 1964 in Zastron, Free State, Theo’s journey into photography began with a fascination for perfect timing. In June 1977, during a family holiday in Durban, a thirteen-year-old Theo experimented with his mother’s camera at the Oceanarium, capturing stunning action photographs of dolphins. The thrill of freezing a single, beautiful moment convinced him to dedicate his life to the craft.
He began his career with a Pentax K1000, but during his national service, he invested in his first Nikon camera—initiating a lifelong loyalty to the brand. Today, Theo is a proud collector of vintage Nikon gear. For his modern studio and location sessions, he utilizes the exceptional low-light capabilities and precision of the Nikon D4 and Nikon D500 bodies, paired with the versatile and razor-sharp Sigma 24 – 70mm f2.8 lens. This advanced equipment allows him to capture the softest studio lighting gradients and the sharpest editorial details with absolute clarity.

Theo’s formal entry into the modelling world began in 1988, and he quickly established himself as a prominent figure in the industry. His portfolio gained recognition on major industry platforms like Mercer Models (a network akin to Model Mayhem and Modelbase), and he served as the chief photographer for UBA Models.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for discovering fresh talent, Theo hosted his first official model search event in Bloemfontein in 2005. Following his relocation to Pretoria at the end of 2006, he expanded these initiatives, hosting highly successful model events and exclusive portfolio shoots across the capital.
Over the years, Theo has refined his approach to celebrate the human form through tasteful, high-end boudoir and model portraiture. His sessions are built on a foundation of professional comfort, creative styling, and expert lighting design.
